Development Update

With summer slowly leaving the northern hemisphere we thought it’s time for another development update.

As it stands right now, we’ll release Untold Novel version 1.2 in October. 

Next to the usual bug fixes and smaller improvements the main act of 1.2 will be the introduction of our Pomodoro Timer – a famous tool for writers all around the world. 

We’ll then have another update (1.3) to be released soon after which will introduce more welcome additions to Untold Novel for iOS and iPadOS.

Once these updates are out, we are going to focus on finalizing the macOS version. As already stated, we are aiming for a native macOS version as opposed to the Catalyst build. As this is a completely new development on its own, it has taken us quite some time during this summer to get it to its current state. 

Needless to say that the new features mentioned above will also make it to the macOS version. UI-wise the macOS will naturally come with its own style – probably a bit calmer than the iOS version. Just as you’d expect from a macOS app.

Prior to the macOS release we’ll also – soon – introduce the long awaited iCloud sync. Testing for this is currently underway. 

Finally, we need to talk about an upcoming pricing change. 

As we are using universal pricing for Untold Novel, this means two things: 

A) Existing users will get the update to Untold Novel for macOS for free once released. 

B) As the value of the package rises, we’ll have to adjust the price slightly to accommodate the months of development time we have put into the macOS version.

Rest assured: While we haven’t settled on a final new price, we are aiming to keep it reasonable for everyone. 

While we do understand that price adjustments aren’t necessarily welcome, we think this is still the better solution – and helps us avoid moving to a subscription model.
