Why don't you offer a subscription?
Good question. As this would become too long to answer here, we decided to wrap that into a blog post, explaining all about that.
Is there a free test version of Untold Novel available?
Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t allow free trial versions for paid apps unless we switch to an in-app purchase licensing model. For now, we’re trying to avoid that, as it comes with its own challenges. We’ve personally encountered issues where apps have forgotten a previous in-app purchase, forcing us to either repurchase or restore the license – something we don’t consider user-friendly. If you are keen to give our app a try before purchasing it, you may be lucky to snap a TestFlight spot. Please make sure to read more about that here before you start.
Will you add support for more languages in the future?
Yes. We started with English and German to get things going but we are looking to add more within the 1.x branch.
Will Untold Novel get widget support in the future?
Yes! We are already testing different UIs internally. Once we settled for a design or two, Widgets will be among the first updates to Untold Novel and they’ll of course be free to anyone who purchased a previous version of Untold Novel!
I have a feature Request. Will you consider it?
While we already have our to-do list stacked with features we’d like to implement in the future, we can’t wait to hear your feedback as to which features you feel are missing for Untold Novel.
We built Untold Novel after our very own vision but we are sure that there are more great ideas out there. Let’s face it: Every author works differently, right? If you happen to get an idea that you think could fit Untold Novel, feel free to shoot us an E-Mail using the subject “Feature Request”.
Though we can only consider those ideas that fit the DNA of Untold Novel, we are always happy to get in touch with you and discuss your ideas.
I could use some other location icons. Will you add more in the future?
We hope so. As we do believe that great art should always be paid (just like you as an author are looking to get paid for the craft of your fingertips), we’ve commissioned a great graphic designer. As we had to keep things within budget, we’ve decided for the 20 icons currently available as a first batch. Should there be enough interest in more icons, we’ll do what we can to get another batch crafted for our users. Please note: We are not looking for offers by other designers (even free) as we want to keep the style consistent with the current pack.
Will I be able to write my Novel in Untold Novel in the future?
The whole idea behind Untold Novel was to create a neat novel planning environment and we are just at the beginning of that journey. In other words there are so many things we’d like to achieve in that regard. That being said, we decided to offer the ability to craft a draft for each of your scenes as a first step in that direction. We are looking to offer support for basic formatting in the future, but for the time being Untold Novel is mainly a novel planning tool.
Is Untold Novel compatible with other writing apps?
Untold Novel is designed to be used alongside your favorite Novel Writing app. You can either have it open in the background or next to your writing app on one device or use it on another device. Typical setups would be an iPad next to a Mac, an iPhone next to an iPad or running both side-by-side using split-screen on your iPad.
As each app either got their own file format or has their data running in a sandbox like Untold Novel, Untold Novel currently isn’t compatible with other apps. We are looking to add an export function to Untold Novel, though, so you can send a file of e.g. your Characters or Locations into your desired writing app.
What are the requirements for Untold Novel?
Untold Novel runs on every iPhone and iPad running iOS 17.0 or iPadOS 17.0 and above respectively.
Will you add support for older OS versions in the future?
That won’t be possible technically, as we are using a rather new framework that wasn’t as feature complete as we needed it on prior versions of iOS and iPadOS. While this means that we are currently only supporting the last two major versions of each Operation System, please note that devices ranging back to 2018 (iPhone XS) are capable of running iOS 17 and therefore Untold Novel.
I don't like Untold Novel. Can I get a refund?
As we are selling our app through the AppStore, we can’t refund you directly, as basically, you’ve purchased the app from Apple. If you are looking to get a refund, please get in touch with Apple. Apple got dedicated support pages ready in various languages, to guide you through the process.
I like your App Icon. Where did you get it from?
We’ve commissioned an experienced designer to create our beautiful app icon, along with 20 carefully crafted location icons. You can find more of his awesome work here:
