About those iOS 19 rumors

Major Changes Are Coming to iOS, iPadOS, and macOS — What Does That Mean for Untold Novel?

The quick answer is: We will see.

The reality is: As of right now, that’s nothing more than rumors. Well, since this week, it’s probably a bit more than just that, as Apple has just announced WWDC 2025.

WWDC, or DubDub as most developers call it, is Apple’s annual developer conference. It’s the one event where we all — developers as well as users — get to learn about all the major changes that will be introduced to Apple’s operating systems.

Usually, these announcements are playful and offer some hints, and this year, the hints seem to confirm all those fancy rumors. iOS 19 (and probably iPadOS 19 as well) will get a huge design overhaul. It’s said to be as impactful as the introduction of the flat design language that iOS 7 brought to the table.

This is especially important for us developers, as our apps can suddenly feel pretty outdated if we don’t adapt to the new design language. But luckily, assuming Apple sticks to the usual timeframe, we’ll have about three months between the announcement and the release of all the new operating systems.

Our Plan for Untold Novel

The reason we initially said “we will see” is simple. As of today, no one outside of Apple knows how much will really change and how the new IDE will look. In other words, which UI elements will automatically adapt? And will these changes work nicely with our overall design? Or will they require major changes on that side?

Depending on all of that — and depending on how the overall look will change — we’ll have to decide to what extent it makes sense to adapt all of our custom UI components. This, in turn, will influence our timeframe for new features and updates.

While we can’t say for sure what’s coming and how much we’ll adapt the look and feel of Untold Novel, what we can say today is that we are eagerly awaiting this year’s WWDC.

Like most developers, we have already blocked the timeframe between June and September to make sure we make the best decisions for our users and our app. We’ll also ensure we get everything done in time — if nothing unforeseen happens in between. As these major changes seem to be coming to fruition this year, this also means we’ve got quite a bit of work ahead until the first day of WWDC 2025.

Anyways, we’ll keep you posted!

Until then — Happy Plotting!
